The Most Expensive Thing on Set Is Indecision

Many people think films bleed money because of expensive cameras, cranes, rain machines and overtime. They don’t.
Films bleed money because someone doesn’t know what they want.
Indecision is the silent budget killer.
It turns a five-minute setup into an hour.
It turns a clear blocking plan into a committee meeting.
It turns a confident day into a nervous shuffle of “maybe one more for safety.”
Every time a director hesitates the production is burning money for no good reason.
Good directors aren’t the ones with the fanciest shot lists. They’re the ones who decide. Quickly. Clearly. And then move on.
The camera department can solve problems.
The lighting team can solve problems.
Even the weather sometimes solves problems.
But nobody on earth can solve a director who doesn’t know what they want.
Make a choice. Commit to it.
